Stayner Curling Club - History
Stayner Granite Club was built in 1963 as a four sheet rink and opened for curling in the Fall of that year.
The Club was financed through Share purchases by curlers, and anyone else who wished to purchase one!
The total cost (EXCLUDING the volunteer labour) was $60,000. The volunteer labour, by curlers plus others who just wanted to help out, included everything except the block walls and the roof trusses.
It is interesting to note that in 1988 (the 25th anniversary of our club) Meaford opened a new four sheet curling club at a cost of $600,000.
